11 Life Changing Wellness Books You Have to Read

I used to hate reading when I was in school! (Very inconvenient I know)

But now I really love it and am mildly obsessed

These books have helped me change habits in my life, think differently, and overall feel better and happier. And I know they'll help you too!

So without further ado are my favorite mindblowingly amazing books for mental health and wellness:

1. Gratitude Works by Robert Emmons

You know I looove gratitude. It completely shifts the way you feel and with consistent practice brings more happiness to your life. This is a great book to read if you want to learn how to start bringing more gratitude into your life. It's a practical guide that will not only motivate you to want to practice gratitude but will also give you the steps and prompts to do it!

2. Positivity by Barbara Fredrickson

I'm a big advocate for learning how to create happiness in your life. Everything gets easier (and way more fun and enjoyable) when you learn the actual science and steps behind how to create happiness! Positivity is an amazing guide to the scientifically proven ways to create happiness. This book gives you hope that you can dramatically shift the way you feel and learn how to create happiness in your life

3. Hardwiring Happiness by Rick Hanson

I particularly love this book because it gives you a more zoomed in look at what happens to your brain as you're feeling uplifting emotions. It's definitely a really science-y book so if you're into that, this is right up your alley. One thing I learned from this book that I found fascinating was that you need to experience a feeling for at least 5-10 seconds for it to have lasting change on your brain

4. Find Your Why by Simon Sinek

This book changed my life. I found this book when I was searching for what I really wanted to do in my work. If you're looking for more purpose in your life, this is the perfect book to read. Simon Sinek also wrote the prequel to this book - Start With Why that is absolutely amazing. This book, Find Your Why, is a more practical guide to getting more clarity on what your purpose is

5. Whatever Arises, Love That by Matt Kahn

This book made me cry pretty much all the way through. It's such a heartfelt book that teaches you how to love yourself. It's also a really spiritual book that has beautiful messages of love and acceptance. This book really hits the nail on the head for me about what the journey of life is all about. Reading this book was soothing and healing at the same time

6. The Light Between Us by Laura Lynne Jackson

This is a deeply spiritual book and really profound if you have an open mind. Laura Lynne Jackson, a psychic medium, talks all about life after death and how the universe is connected. The stories she shares are deeply moving and also fascinating. If you ponder about if there's more to this life, give this book a read

7. The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk M.D.

The Body Keeps the Score has the reputation as one of the best books on trauma every written, and that's because it is. This book is deeply validating and gives the reader a lot of understanding about what trauma is, how the body responds, and what you can do to heal. If you've experienced trauma in your life (which is basically everyone), this book is incredibly healing to read

8. It Didn't Start With You by Mark Wolynn

Another book about trauma! I thought this book was deeply profound because it focuses on intergenerational trauma and childhood trauma. It has practical steps on how to heal as well as fascinating science about how it all works. This book gave me a lot to think about in terms of my childhood and really helped me understand myself better

9. 90 Seconds To a Life You Love by Joan I. Rosenberg PhD

This book goes into how emotions are processed. If you're someone who has a hard time processing your emotions, this book is a great one for you. I found it a bit repetitive at times but the general message and so many parts of the book were extremely helpful. Without giving away too much, it says the sensations associated with an emotion move through your body in 90 seconds or less, and it teaches you how to work with this process instead of against it

10. Meditations to Change Your Brain by Rick Hanson Ph.D.

Want some meditations that will positively impact your brain? Look no further. This book has a ton of great meditations that change your brain to support more calm, happiness, and resilience. If you get the audiobook version you'll get the mediations recorded so you can just listen to them

11. The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron

The Artist's Way is all about unlocking your creativity, and in a spiritual way! It's sort of like a course or a journey that has you learn new things each week and gives you new tools to work with and practice with. This book is perfect for anyone that would love to get more in touch with their creative side

Any of these books are life changing and not only are they great to read for yourself but they can also make great gifts. Which reminds me, I probably need to start buying a couple of these for people. Hope this helped! And I'd love to know in the comments of any life changing books you've read

Sending lots of love,

Gina
